DIY
I move into my new apartment tomorrow and one of the first things on my list of renovations is to sand back and repaint the window and door trims and the picture rail. They are painted the most hideous shade of mustard. I can’t even begin to imagine why anyone thought that would be a good idea!
UKTV.co.uk has a brilliant DIY section. I have been reading up on how to strip back paint! I’ve never done anything DIY before - I don’t know how much of a handy-woman I will make, but hey I’ll give it a go! I’m planning to do one room at at time - probably do the smaller, less used rooms first - like the 2nd bedroom and the hallway. That way I can practice and it won’t be to obvious if it’s really bad!!
I also had a look at laying carpet, but I think I’d be too scared to even attempt that right now! I would like to eventually take up the carpet and have polished floorboards, I think. I really like the look of them and I sometimes I get a bit allergic to all the ook that ends up in carpet, no matter how much you vacuum. The carpet that is down now is a kind of dark navy blue. It’s not good or bad, it’s just blue.
